Exhibitions and Public Events
🧪 Science Museum: Food for the Future
Location: Science Museum, Exhibition Road, South Kensington
Dates: Open daily from 24 July 2025 to 2026
Times: 10:00 to 18:00

The question of how we will feed a global population in the decades ahead is one of the most urgent and fascinating scientific challenges of our time. This brand-new exhibition presents that future not as a distant concern, but as an unfolding story already taking shape in research labs, test farms and kitchens around the world.
Food for the Future invites visitors to explore ideas like vertical farming, lab-grown meat, climate-resilient crops and alternative proteins. Children can interact with touchscreen installations and model environments that help explain where food comes from, how supply chains work and what innovations might soon be on their plates.
For adults and older children, the exhibition offers thought-provoking insight into the links between science, sustainability and global policy. For younger visitors, it provides opportunities to play, imagine and understand the basics of food science and nutrition.
🎮 Power Up: A Playable History of Video Games

These sessions are designed for children aged seven to eleven, local to the White City area, and offer an introduction to STEM through practical design and engineering challenges. Activities might include building a simple mechanical structure, solving a construction problem or experimenting with basic circuits and materials. The projects vary, but the approach is always hands-on, and team based.
The Invention Rooms are purpose-built for this kind of work. Children are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas and develop solutions using real tools and materials under expert supervision. These workshops are ideal for parents looking to introduce their children to engineering in a creative, confidence-building environment.
