Happy New Year from PCS Instruments! We hope 2019 is a productive year in the tribology industry. Always striving for improvement and innovation, we have eight events coming up over the course of 2019, exhibiting advances in the field of Tribology as well as insights into how to respond to future concerns within the industry.

OilDoc Exhibition (The Kultur-und Kongresszentrum, Rosenheim: 29 – 31 January)

At our first exhibition of the year, OilDoc, keynote speaker Valentina Serra-Holm, president of UEIL (Union of the European Lubricants), will discuss potential future trends in the base oil and lubricants industry.

PCS Instruments’ own Dr Rich Baker will be showcasing our new Extreme pressure Traction Machine (ETM) and will be speaking about ETM applications.

SAE 2019 (The Westgate Hotel, San Diego: 11 – 14 March)

Setting global standards for advanced mobility engineering, SAE’s extensive Fuel and Lubricants Council covers innovative work ranging from industrial to military in purpose.

In his first meeting as Tribology chairman of the E34C group, Dr Rich Baker is looking forward to attending the upcoming meeting in San Diego this March where the current SAE standards will be reviewed, and any new proposed standards will be discussed.

IET Challenges in Tribology (IET Birmingham – Austin Court, Birmingham UK: 27 – 28 March)

PCS has great interest in both current and future developments within the Tribology community.  As part of this commitment to the industry Dr Rich Baker, from PCS, is currently serving as Chairman of the IET Tribology network committee.

Rich will again be chairing the annual ‘Challenges in Tribology’ event in Birmingham this coming March. This 2-day event will address both current and future issues in Tribology, from the development of new lubricants and novel materials to corrosion and surface coatings

STLE 2019 (Omni Hotel Nashville, Nashville: 19 – 23 May)

We will be heading to Nashville in May for STLE’s 74th annual meeting. Alongside our usual exhibition booth showcasing our latest products, Ms Grace Hully of the PCS team will be presenting in the Biotribology field with a talk entitled ‘Relating sensory perception to the Tribology of Milk’. Don’t miss Grace’s presentation on the first day of the conference, Monday May 20th at 1.30pm.

ASTM Meeting D02 (Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, Denver: 23 – 27 June)

PCS will be attending the two ASTM D02 Committee meetings on Petroleum Products and Lubricants. This group meets twice a year, in June and December (See later in post). Approximately 1000 members attend the five days of technical meetings. The committee, with a membership of approximately 2500 industry professionals and experts, currently has jurisdiction over 814 standards. These standards have, a preeminent role in all aspects relating to the standardization of Petroleum Products and Lubricants.

SAE E34 Meeting (Courtyard by Marriott Denver Cherry Creek, Denver: 23 – 26 September)

From Monday 23rd to Thursday 26th September, PCS Instruments will again be attending a meeting of three SAE committees in Denver. The E-34 Propulsion Lubricants Committee, AMS M Aerospace Greases Committee, and E-38 Aviation Piston Engine Fuels and Lubricants Committee will all be in meeting in Denver.

Tribology Frontiers Conference (Drake Hotel, Chicago: 20 – 23 October)

A leading technical organisation, STLE returns in its fifth annual Tribology Frontiers Conference. This year will see a return of the popular half-day symposium, ‘Beyond the Cutting Edge: Highlights from Tribology Letters’. PCS Instruments will be attending and exhibiting at the Tribology Frontiers Conference in October.

ASTM Meeting D02 (New Orleans Marriott, New Orleans: 8 – 12 December)

PCS will end the year’s events by attending the second ASTM D02 committee meeting in New Orleans in December to continue to support development of petroleum products and lubricants standards.
