‘Growing up as the son of co-founder John Hutchinson meant PCS has been a big part of my life since I was young. I’ve known a lot of the PCS team members since I was little, so I’ve always felt like PCS was part of my family. After finishing my history degree at the University of Leicester, I joined PCS in the marketing department. I’ve really enjoyed using the more creative sides of my personality at PCS which I didn’t get to use for my history studies.

The culture of PCS is fantastic. When I joined it was a much smaller company and it felt like family and what’s brilliant is that while we have grown as a company, that family feeling has never gone away. From pub and game board nights to the big social events of the year like our summer BBQ and Christmas party, PCS has a brilliant social culture. Moreover, the actual ethos of the company of delivering absolutely the best products and services shines through. I feel like we’re really well trusted by our customers because they know who we are personally and what the company stands for.

The marketing team has changed a lot from when I first joined PCS, but only for the better. We’re a small team, but we’re all close and get along really well. I’ve worked in particular with Mel Morley for my whole time at PCS and it’s great to have that kind of working relationship with people on a team, where you know exactly what everyone is doing and what we’re all working towards! As a team we’re led by our brilliant manager Dana Miller, who gives us our direction and a lot of guidance on anything and everything we could need.

You could say I have a soft spot for John and Clive, having known both of them for most of – and in one case my whole – life, and it’s really inspiring how they built the company from the ground up into the globally respected and known name in the tribology sector. This is especially true as tribology is a relatively unknown quarter of science, despite it being so important to so many parts of daily life! When Steven Horder joined PCS, he definitely brought a huge amount of expertise and experience which I think has hugely helped cement PCS as a world leader in tribology technology, and to be honest he’s just a very friendly and professional guy!

PCS is by far and away one of the best companies I know, and I can’t imagine there being a better place to work!’
